NRCP's Anniversary
The American Heritage Rivers Initiative is recognizing its first ten years in 2008. To celebrate this milestone, New River Community Partners is working with communities in each of the New River states to offer Saturday events during the month of June for the New River’s residents, visitors and supporters.

- June 14, 2008 - Ingles Farm in Radford, Virginia, with Radford Heritage Days

Directions to New River State Park - 221 Access - June 7th Events
- Take US Highway 221 to Jefferson, NC and follow the highway through town;
- At the intersection of 221/Hwy 16 and Highway 88 (Vannoy Construction office on the northeast corner), turn left (north) remaining on Hwy 221
- Follow Hwy 16 north about five miles and turn right onto Tom Fowler Road (look for the brown sign for New River State Park- 221 Access)
- Follow Tom Fowler Road until it ends and turn left onto Hwy 221
- Follow Hwy 221 North for about four miles and the park is on the right before crossing the New River at New River General Store.
